Nashville to Memphis is just over 200 miles and we can either head directly along the I-40 with possible stopping off points at Jackson and Loretta Lynn’s Ranch or we can take the more scenic (but longer) route along a section of the iconic Natchez Trace Parkway

Sports fans can check out the fixture lists for the NBA Memphis Grizzlies and the Memphis Redbirds baseball team whose home games are played in the downtown FedEx Forum and Autozone Park arenas respectively.  Other popular Memphis attractions include the ducks at the Peabody Hotel, Mud Island River Park & the Mississippi River Museum, and of course you’ll need to get a picture of the famous Elvis Presley statue on Beale Street.

Memphis is also the place where Martin Luther King was shot whilst giving a speech to sanitation workers on the 4th April 1968 at the Lorraine Motel, he died in room 306, the room he was staying in at the time. The Lorraine Motel is now part of the complex of the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, a museum that depicts the history of the American Civil Rights movement from the 17th century through to current civil rights issues.  Visitors can view Room 306, along with a replica of the bus Rosa Parks rode on as well as a replica of the US Supreme Court room that delivered the historic Brown v the Board of education ruling declaring the unconstitutionality of segregated education.
