Description

Let’s get started on our exciting Pacific Coast National Parks Trail adventure with a two night stay at the luxurious Warwick hotel located in the heart of Seattle in the lively upbeat Belltown district just a few blocks away from the Space Needle, and only a seven minute walk away from the famous Pike Market.

Inspired by Seattle culture the hotel’s comfortable guest rooms come with and a host of modern amenities including 49”flat screen TV, Bluetooth Multimedia Centres, Italian marble baths and stunning views of downtown Seattle from their floor to ceiling windows and Juliet balconies.  The Warwick hotel also has a lively on site restaurant, a heated indoor swimming pool with hot tub, a 24 hour fitness centre and the popular Margaux Bar. It’s a fantastic jumping off point and a great start to your Pacific Coast adventures.

First stop has to be the Space Needle, a Seattle icon that was built for the 1962 world fair where you’ll love the stunning views over Elliot Bay and towards the Cascade mountains from the Needle’s observation deck.  Once you’ve seen all that the Space Needle has to offer be sure to take a ride on the Seattle Centre Monorail as it weaves its way between the cities skyscrapers above the busy streets below on its way to the Westlake Centre

Other popular attractions include the Seattle Aquarium, the Seattle Great Wheel, the Museum of Flight Seattle, Pike Place Market and the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) where colourful exhibits delve into the history of indie video games, Nirvana, the Seattle Seahawks and lots more – the kids will love it!

If time permits take a ferry ride across the stunning Puget Sound and just sits back and enjoy the bracing fresh air and breath-taking scenery.

Next stop Port Angeles for a two night stay at the comfortable and uncomplicated Red Lion Hotel set beside a beach on the Strait of Juan de Fuca just a three minute walk from the Coho ferry terminal and only 2 miles or so from the Olympic National Park Visitor Centre.

Hotel rooms feature complimentary Wi-Fi that’s great for updating those social media pages and keeping in touch with the folks back home and come with modern amenities including minifridges microwaves, premium cable or satellite TV, coffeemakers and bathrooms with eco-friendly toiletries.  The hotel also has an onsite restaurant, a large outdoor pool with hot tub, a fitness centre and complimentary bike rentals – they’re a fantastic way to get out and about and start exploring the local area.

With its wonderful location on the Straits of Juan De Fuca, Port Angeles is a charming coastal town that’s surrounded by natural stunning scenery and beauty that’s truly a paradise for outdoor lovers.  The Olympic National Park is only a five minute drive away from the hotel and it’s filled with things to do – from hiking, fishing and backpacking to boating, beachcombing and wild life spotting it’s all here waiting for you at this wonderful World Heritage Site.

Other popular activities include kayaking and paddle boarding on the Elwha River, mountain biking, river rafting and of course whale watching with minke, orca, humpback and grey whales visiting the nutrient rich waters off the coast of Port Angeles.

Time to say cheerio to Port Angeles and hello to Ashford, where we’ll enjoy a two night stay at the warm and welcoming Nisqually Lodge whose charming and rustic accommodations are conveniently located just five miles from the Nisqually entrance to Mount Rainer National Park and a short 12 mile drive away from Mineral Lake.

The Lodge’s guestrooms are spacious with modern amenities including free Wi-Fi, flat screen TV, microwaves, refrigerators, Keurig coffeemakers and more.  There’s also a free hot breakfast to fuel you up for the day’s fun and games and a friendly evening reception with free drinks and snacks – it’s a nice place to catch up with your fellow travellers and the ideal base camp for our visit to Mount Rainer National Park.

There’s lots of ways to experience Mount Rainer National Park so let’s get those hiking boots laced up and get started.  The park is home to more than 300 miles of hiking trails spread and there are a number of short self-guided nature walks dotted throughout the park.  It’s fun to see how many of the local residents you can spot including the chipmunks, marmots, squirrels, pikas, deer and birds amongst the magnificent trails, waterfalls, rivers and canyons of the park.  You might even get lucky and bump into an elusive elk or some mountain goats – better keep the camera handy for some memorable holiday snaps.
