About The Best of Louisiana

Description

It’s the start of your Louisiana adventures and a two night stay at the Q&C Hotelbar, New Orleans. Tucked between the French Quarter and the trendy Warehouse/Arts District the Q&C is the perfect launching pad for your “Big Easy” escapades.

The hotel’s convenient location places you close to some great boutiques, trendy restaurants, and bohemian coffee shops. Explore museums and art galleries by day (including the National WWII Museum, the city’s top rated tourist attraction) then, catch a show at The Howlin’ Wolf, one of the hottest venues around.

The city’s iconic French Quarter is just a ten minute stroll from the hotel and it’s the place to experience some of the best restaurants, cocktail bars, lively music venues and round the clock night life that New Orleans is rightly famous for. Take a stroll down Bourbon Street and sample some of the finest Creole cuisine on the planet, visit the fortune tellers at Jackson Square, take a jazz cruise down the Mississippi River on an authentic steamboat, and stroll on over to the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas – one of the top five aquariums in the US – for a fab day out.

For the real deal in local music pop on over to lively Frenchmen Street in the Faubourg Marigny District, home to an amazing collection of bars, clubs, killer restaurants home-grown jazz funk music. There’s never a dull moment in this exciting city.

The Q&C Hotel embodies the tradition and culture of New Orleans where each guestroom pays homage to the city that we love. Designed for the urban explorer in mind, all guestrooms feature complimentary WiFi, 47-inch flat screen HDTVs with wireless capability, workstations, Keurig Coffeemaker with K-Cups, small refrigerator, safe, and walk-in shower.

Next stop Lafayette and a two night stay at the welcoming Hampton Inn & Suites Lafayette conveniently located just off Highway 90. Hampton Inn & Suites Lafayette has all the amenities needed to ensure a comfortable stay at this charming destination that’s filled with Southern Charm and a whole host of places to explore.

Popular local attractions include LARC’s Acadian Village, a living museum on 19th century Acadian life, Vermilionville Historic Village, Lake Martin, a fascinating Louisiana swampland wildlife preserve and the Acadian Cultural Centre, a free history museum that’s well worth a visit.

In addition to its world-class Cajun cuisine, Lafayette is known for its swampland dotted with moss-draped cypress trees teeming with wildlife, which makes it the perfect destination for bird watching, paddling, fishing and numerous other outdoor activities.

Perfect for families, couples or friends alike, the Hampton Inn & Suites is ideal for your visit to Lafayette.

Next stop Lake Charles and a one night stay at the Golden Nugget Resort, which is surrounded by luscious landscapes and offers picturesque views of Contraband Bayou. The spectacular Golden Nugget Resort boasts more than 1000 luxury guest rooms, endless entertainment options, fabulous dining and world-class casino games.

The Country Club at the Golden Nugget is host to an exceptional championship golf course and the H2O Pool & Bar, which features a huge splash pool and lazy river, private cabanas, fire pits, hot tubs and an outdoor poolside bar. Natchitoches is our next stop with a one night stay at the friendly and welcoming Hampton Inn that’s perfect for our stopover in this delightful Louisiana destination. Popular attractions include the Cane River Creole National Historical Park; Fort St. Jean Baptiste Historic Site, a replica of an 18th century French fort settlement; and Oakland Plantation.

The hotel’s desirable location places you close to the old world charm of Natchitoches, the oldest settlement in the Louisiana Purchase territory. Take a stroll down Front Street and admire the beautiful wrought iron work and balconies of historic buildings. Visit the lovely state parks, tee off at the nearby Northwestern Hills Golf course or take the family to the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame with exhibits of over 300 legendary Louisiana athletes and coaches. Just three miles from the hotel you can picnic, boat and fish at Sibley Lake or watch a first-run movie at Parkway Cinema 6.

Back at the Hampton Inn guest rooms are filled with home away from home comforts. Lay back and relax in the guaranteed clean and fresh Hampton Bed, watch the HDTV and enjoy the coffee maker and convenient mini-refrigerator. The great location, lots of added comforts and lovely Southern hospitality make the Hampton Inn Natchitoches a top choice.

Next stop Vicksburg and a two night stay where you’ll enjoy the magical sunsets over the Mississippi and Yazoo River valley from your high back rocking chair or swing on the Front Gallery of Corner Mansion Inn. It’s no wonder that the views of the rivers from the porches of Corners Mansion Inn are considered the best and most expansive of all the B & B’s in Vicksburg.

Playing a pivotal role in the American Civil War, the city of Vicksburg is home to a host of attractions and historical sites including Vicksburg National Military Park, the Old Courthouse, U.S.S. Cairo Museum, The Old Depot Museum and much more.

Vicksburg National Military Park was the site of a violent 47 day battle, “the Siege of Vicksburg”. The park is only a short drive from the hotel and it provides a fascinating insight into the strategic importance of Vicksburg and the surrounding areas, as well as the battle itself which ended with the surrender of the Confederate Army on the 4th July 1863. The Park contains a museum, several forts, battlefield trenches and the U.S.S. Cairo Museum.

You’ll be able to walk through part of the USS Cairo, the only remaining example of a City Class Ironclad. Inside the museum you’ll find a collection of fascinating artefacts and a short film on the recovery and restoration of this amazing ship.

Standing prominently on a hill, the Old Courthouse was completed by slaves in 1860 and restored as a museum in 1947. The museum is now home to historical photographs and artefacts including Confederate flags and a tie worn by Jefferson Davis.

Other popular attractions nearby include the Old Depot Museum, the McRaven Tour Home, the Lower Mississippi River Museum and the Biedenharn Coca-Cola Museum, a restored building where Coca-Cola was first bottled in 1894.

There’s a lot more to Vicksburg than historical sites and museums. Lively bars, locally inspired restaurants and lots of Southern style boutiques are all within easy reach of your base.

Back at the B & B guests appreciate the luxurious guest rooms (or the Master Bedroom Suite). All have antique queen or king-size beds and furniture, HVAC, cable television, WiFi, private baths, some have whirlpool tubs, gas-burning fireplaces and private porches with views of the Yazoo and Mississippi rivers from the comfort of your rocking chair or swing.

The Monmouth Inn is located on 26 acres of luscious gardens and estate providing the perfect romantic getaway just a 5 minute drive from Natchez city centre. This National Historic Landmark reflects the charm of the South and offers guests exceptional hospitality and it’s your base for the second night of your adventures.

With acres of beautiful gardens there’s no better place to take a relaxing stroll or have a seat and enjoy the tranquillity of this historic inn. Stocked ponds on the grounds of the hotel provide great sport for anglers – just get some friendly local advice and of course your fishing tackle for the day before casting your lure!

It’s great to start the day with a full Southern breakfast that’s complimentary of course! And after a day exploring all that Natchez has to offer it’s nice to get together with friends and fellow guests over complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a traditional mint julep or your cocktail of choice in the Quitman Study or Lounge.

Local attractions include the Mississippi River which is located only 3 miles from the property – sign up for a canoe trip and get a bird’s eye view of the local wildlife and towering river bluffs from the middle of the river.

Natchez is well known for its historic homes, including Longwood, the largest octagonal house in America; Rosalie 1820, a national landmark and home to the Union headquarters during the Civil War; and Linden, the model for Tara in Gone with the Wind. There are more than 600 examples of antebellum architecture dotted throughout the city, and many homes are open to the public. Other popular local attractions include the Grand Village of Natchez and the National Landmark Historic District – only a 5 minute drive away from the hotel.

Last stop is a two night stay in Louisiana’s capital city at the Hampton Inn & Suites Baton Rouge. The hotel’s desirable location in the heart of the bustling downtown district places you within striking distance of some of Baton Rouge’s trendy restaurants, lively bars, casinos and famous local attractions such as the Shaw Centre and Louisiana State Museum.

Tiger Stadium is just a short drive away and other popular local places of interest include the LSU Rural Life Museum, Louisiana’s Old State Capitol building, the USS Kidd Museum, Magnolia Mound Plantation and BREC’s Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Centre.

The guestrooms, suites and handicap-accessible rooms at Hampton Inn boast comfort and convenience. It’s gorgeous Hampton Bed® ensures a great night’s sleep and modern amenities enhance your stay. Tyler
Tyler is your man! After having tried the high street and ‘main stream’ travel agents and tried to have a go at building our own holiday with little success I decided to email Travel Planners late one night with a rough outline of our hopes for a multi destination trip to America. The very next morning I received a call from Tyler Vockel.
Paula
This travel company was recommended to me by a work colleague over a discussion about road trips in California. I had tried for months comparing prices with quite a few travel operators for travel to California in 2025. I was advised to try Travel Planners for their competitive prices, and personal customer services. Having given them a try, I was put through to Paula Stanton whom I gave my proposed itinerary.
