Located in Disney Springs, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort is divided into 2 completely different hotels. French Quarter giving you the romance of New Orleans’ French Quarter or Riverside inspired by rural Louisiana.
Walk along the cobbled walkways of Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter whilst admiring the breathtaking balconies with their delicate railings with a back drop of smooth jazz music and the sweet smell of magnolias. With gas lampposts and fountains nestled everywhere, you will really feel you have been taken back to the Big Easy. In the main lobby area, The Mint, you will find a delectable food court serving American and Creole food – Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Doubloon Lagoon, this is the French Quarter’s main pool area complete with its very own alligator waterslide. Decorated with a colourful Mardi Gras feel, Doubloon Lagoon is one of the brightest pools at Walt Disney World and scattered around the pool are comical characters from the Mardi Gras – watch as the children try to avoid being “sprayed”. A small distance from the main pool you will find a hot tub and the welcoming pool bar Mardi Grogs. where you can have a long, cool, refreshing drink -Towel hire is also available here. Adjacent to the Doubloon Lagoon is a children’s playground. Here youngsters can climb and slide to their hearts content. South Quarter Games Arcade is where you will find approximately 51 games. Dotted all around Walt Disney World are the pressed penny machines, the French Quarter is no different – see your children’s faces light up while a penny is crushed, elongated and embossed with one of the famous Disney characters faces. For the more energetic amongst you, take a map from Guest Services and go for a jog through the winding pathways and riverbank trails around Disney’s Port Orleans Resort or rent a bike for a leisurely ride around this truly beautiful resort.
Cajun Campfires is a relatively new activity where a campfire is lit at dusk-Join in traditional camp fire singing whilst toasting a marshmallows. Sassagoula is the name of the main food court here at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter housed in a converted warehouse you can enjoy a big hearty cooked breakfast of eggs and bacon to set you up for the exciting days spent in the park. Lunch can be anything from a burger to a fresh salad. For dinner split-roasted chickens and barbeque ribs await you.
Just off of the main lobby is Scat’s Cat’s Lounge where you can relax in the jazz filled room surrounded by memorabilia, sip your favourite cocktail or one of Scar’s Cat’s Lounge specialities.
5 pools of fun are located throughout Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside and each pool has a play area adjacent. Rent a rod from Ol’Man Island and master your fishing skills. In this old-fashioned fishing hole all the family will enjoy trying to catch catfish, blue gill and bass. Remember though Walt Disney World operates a “catch and release “policy. Be sure to take your camera to prove you did catch the biggest!
Dine in Boatwrights Dining Hall a rustic shipyard and savor the flavor of tasty New Orleans cooking. The Dining Hall is illuminated with hanging lanterns and the centrepiece is a skeletal hull of a lugger fishing boat which is suspended from the ceiling. Warm yourself by the fire as you look at the antique shipbuilding tools hanging on the walls. Boatwright’s Dining Hall is open for dinner only. Reservations are recommended and can be made up to 180 days prior to your visit.
