About Best of Canada’s West Tour

Description

Perfectly situated in the centre of downtown Vancouver, the Sandman Hotel is the ideal base to explore Vancouver’s wonders. With luxurious amenities including an indoor pool and fitness centre, you will swiftly feel relaxed. The Sandman Hotel also boasts a sophisticated, contemporary style and plush, modern guest rooms which are sure to make your Vancouver visit comfortable and refreshing. For your convenience and ease, there are also two on-site restaurants to choose from. Moxie’s Grill & Bar serves modern twists on favourites including tacos and sushi; Shark Club Sports Bar & Grill, is the ultimate spot to watch live matches from whilst eating delicious food and sipping a creative cocktail or craft beer.

The superb location of this hotel places you opposite the Rogers Arena, home of the Vancouver Canucks hockey team and BC Place Stadium, so you’ll never be far from some of Canada’s biggest sporting events or its most spectacular live shows. Vancouver’s Robson Street, a famous Canadian shopping destination, is within easy walking distance and there are loads of fantastic restaurants and lounges on the streets surrounding the hotel too. Ten minutes away, there’s the historic Gastown, the oldest neighbourhood in Vancouver, with its lively nightlife, chic restaurants and boutiques, as well as souvenir shops and patios where you can savour the serene ocean views.

Stylish, modern guest rooms are available with a Queen-size bed or as a Queen-size double room, or you could even upgrade and enjoy the height of luxury in a King-size room or suite. Queen rooms feature complimentary Wi-Fi, radio, hairdryer, 42” flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities, ironing amenities and plush beds. Luxurious Corporate King Rooms with sofa beds feature a sitting area (with a single pull-out sofa bed), mini-refrigerator and more living space than standard Queen rooms. Many of the Sandman Hotel’s rooms also include views of the mountains surrounding Vancouver and the ornate buildings in Vancouver itself.

After exploring Vancouver and discovering its hidden gems and enjoying its sporting events, it’s time to collect your motorhome. Standard motorhomes feature modern facilities, including a practical kitchenette with microwave, gas cooker and refrigerator and freezer, and a fully-equipped private bathroom with a shower and fresh water toilet. For added comfort, there’s even air conditioning and the plush beds will allow your motorhome to become your new home-from-home as you tour around the best places in western Canada.

First up, it’s a short 15 mile drive to Burnaby Cariboo RV Park for your first night. From here, you can enjoy the attractions in Greater Vancouver, discovering the stunning scenery surrounding Vancouver city and attractions including Capilano Suspension Bridge, an exhilarating forest experience which has welcomed visitors since 1889. Dare to walk on the cliff walk or just stick to the suspension bridge itself, either way you’ll have beautiful views over the tree tops. Next, it’s a lengthy but beautiful journey towards Okanagan Valley. Spend the next two days next to the serene Okanagan Lake. If you’re feeling adventurous, ride on Hell’s Air-tram over the Fraser River or for some local history, tour the Othello-Quintette Tunnels and see the tunnels and bridges that gave way to the Kettle Valley Railroad. Nearby, stop off at Harrison Hot Springs to enjoy water sports galore, natural hot springs and picturesque mountain scenery.

Next, it’s time to head to Revelstoke, in the idyllic Monashee Mountains and near two peaceful national parks. For history buffs, there’s the Revelstoke Railway Museum with exhibits of vintage trains and carriages and there’s also Revelstoke Mountain Resort for winter sports lovers. Make the most of the fabulous snowy location and try skiing or snowboarding, or if you’re feeling particularly daring, try helicopter skiing. After a three hour journey, you’ll reach Lake Louise; your base for the next couple of days. Choose to travel on the Bow Valley Parkway for scenic views and plenty of hiking trails and stopping points taking your very own breath-taking mountain pictures. Soak in the magnificent views at the Banff Springs Hotel with a delicious meal or enjoy the hot springs at Banff.

For days 7 and 8 of your Canadian road trip, travel to Jasper and enjoy views enclosed by vast peaks rising above 10,000 feet. Visit the calming Athabasca Glacier and take in the undisturbed mountain views or go on a majestic lake cruise to the picture-perfect Spirit Island, which can only be accessed by boat due to its secluded location. Next, you’ll head through spectacular scenery as you drive beside Wells Gray Provincial Park and the Columbia Mountains. On your drive, why not stop at Blue River and enjoy a boat ride to try and spot some black bears? Once you’ve reached Clearwater, visit the dramatic Helmcken Falls or hike the Moul Falls Trail for amazing views of some of Canada’s most spectacular natural treasures.

After another drive, you’ll arrive in back at the Burnaby Cariboo campsite. With easy access to Vancouver with buses every 30 minutes and the Skytrain just 15 minutes away from the site, it’s easy to get into the centre of Vancouver without driving yourself. With so much more to see in Vancouver, including Granville Island, Stanley Park and the Harbour Centre. On the final day, it’s time to return your motorhome to Cruise Canada’s depot, just 15 miles away from the campsite.

Why not also extend your stay and visit the tranquil Vancouver Island? Enjoy a sunny afternoon strolling around the enchanting Butchart Gardens, visit the Royal BC Museum for natural history exhibits and go on a tour of the Victorian Craigdarroch Castle. With so much to see and do, and its close proximity to Vancouver itself, why not enjoy some more of Canada’s natural beauty and cultural gems and pay Vancouver Island a visit?
