About Canada Maritime Tour

Description

Perfectly-situated in the heart of Halifax, you can start your Canadian adventure from the luxury of the Atlantica Hotel. Offering spacious guest rooms, complimentary Wi-Fi and access to other fantastic facilities. Revitalise and refresh by the bright and airy pool area, complete with a shallow wading pool for the kids and enjoy relaxing in the Jacuzzi and sauna. Get your muscles moving in the fitness centre, which features modern equipment including treadmills, exercise bikes and elliptical. Nearby, there are plenty of places to run or go for an evening stroll, such as Halifax Common’s luscious green spaces and the peaceful Halifax Harbour. Then, lounge on the outdoor deck, which even includes a secluded gazebo, the perfect spot to relax by the modern pool area.

The hotel even has its very own restaurant and lounge. The Seasons by Atlantica Restaurant serves delicious locally-inspired dishes, using only the freshest ingredients in a modern atmosphere with accommodating staff who make you feel welcome from the second you arrive. From the popular breakfast buffet to laid-back lunches and sophisticated dinners, there’s something for every time of day. For families, there’s also the added bonus of the restaurant’s kids’ offer, allowing kids aged 5 and under to eat for free.

The Atlantica Hotel’s superb location means you can spend less time travelling around Halifax and more time enjoying what it has to offer. Plenty of restaurants are on the streets surrounding the hotel and there are some amazing entertainment venues, including the Neptune Theatre and bars too. Visit the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic to learn more about the ocean surrounding Halifax and to see artefacts from the Titanic or live like a local and explore the Halifax Seaport Farmers Market.

Back at the Atlantica, the large guest rooms make the ultimate comfortable base to explore Halifax. Featuring panoramic views of downtown Halifax or the soft greens of Halifax Common.  Luxurious ‘Cloud Beds’, an LCD flat screen TV with on-demand channels, in-room coffee making facilities, a mini refrigerator and complimentary local calls are all part of the service. Silver standard rooms are available with either two double beds or one King-size bed, making them ideally suited to both families and couples exploring one of Canada’s most charming cities.

The Atlantica Hotel is the obvious place to begin your trip in style, having been designed with modern comfort and luxury in mind.

Next, it’s time to collect your motorhome from the Cruise Canada Halifax depot. Standard motorhomes feature modern facilities, including a practical kitchenette with microwave, gas cooker and refrigerator and freezer, and a fully-equipped private bathroom with a shower and fresh water toilet. For added comfort, there’s even air conditioning and the plush beds will allow your motorhome to become your new home-from-home as you tour past some of Canada’s finest natural wonders.

Firstly, it’s a short drive to Lunenburg.  Gaze at the spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and pass the quaint coastal villages in Peggy’s Cove and Chester Bay before arriving in the UNESCO world heritage site of Lunenburg town. Beyond the vibrant buildings in the old town’s waterfront, discover guided tours recounting historic tales of haunting spirits and visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic on the waterfront.  Next, it’s off to Kejimkujik National Park, where you can explore the natural beauty of Nova Scotia away from the busy cities. For action-packed adventures, canoe or kayak on the traditional waterways or go on a hiking or cycling trail through picture-perfect forests.

Continue your journey to Digby, where you will be spending the next couple of days. Head to Digby Neck or Brier Island for some of the most amazing whale watching experiences in North America. Local experts will tell you all about the local wildlife, as well as stories and facts about the whales themselves. The Fisherman’s Wharf, Digby is the ideal spot for meals with ocean views and the hiking trails along Digby’s coast provide calming backdrops for perfect photo opportunities. For days 5 and 6, you will be based in Fundy National Park, which is a short Bay Ferry ride and drive away. The low tides in the Bay of Fundy allow visitors to see new depths of seashore life and the scenic coastal roads’ observation decks offer the chance of seeing some more whales. Explore this natural, peaceful setting by wandering through the forest or heading to the beach.

For the next two days your base is in Kouchibouguac National Park. On the way, see the dramatic rock formations at Hopewell Rocks, The Ocean Tidal Exploration Site, where the world’s highest tides are formed. Once you reach the national park, enjoy the bogs, tidal rivers, secluded lagoons and salt marshes from the 60km of cycling paths by renting some bikes or head for a walk through the calming fields and forests. Days 9 and 10 will be based in Charlotte Town on Prince Edward Island. Cross the Confederation Bridge to the home of Anne of Green Gables and see the enchanting setting of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s novel for yourself. Follow a tourist coastal drive and soak in the magical scenery passing some of the island’s 50 lighthouses. In Cavendish, be sure to visit the Green Gables Heritage Place, perfect for finding out more about the island and a superb spot for avid readers.

The next day, you’ll arrive by ferry into Pictou, where you’ll begin your drive to Cape Breton Island, before ending up at Lake Ainslie. Pay a visit to the Hector Heritage Centre and can climb aboard a replica of the Ship Hector that brought the very first Scottish settlers into Nova Scotia. Continue your journey towards the coastal Inverness town, famed for its Mermaids’ Tears (coloured sea glass which washes up on the sandy beaches).  Spend the next couple of days based in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, where you can drive along the famous Cabot Trail, with picturesque views of the breath-taking landscapes and stopping places.

It’s a long but magnificent drive back to the Cruise Canada depot in Halifax. Stop off at Martinique Beach to enjoy the glorious sandy beaches before stopping for your final night with your motorhome at the KOA campsite, where the depot is situated. Take the morning of the final day to relax and get your belongings together before returning your motorhome.

Overall, this fantastic multicentre offer allows you to experience some of eastern Canada’s most tranquil and idyllic natural wonders. From the soothing blues of the Atlantic Ocean to the luscious greens of the forests you will find on your journey, there is so much to see and do on this Canadian adventure.

Tyler
Tyler is your man! After having tried the high street and ‘main stream’ travel agents and tried to have a go at building our own holiday with little success I decided to email Travel Planners late one night with a rough outline of our hopes for a multi destination trip to America. The very next morning I received a call from Tyler Vockel.
Paula
This travel company was recommended to me by a work colleague over a discussion about road trips in California. I had tried for months comparing prices with quite a few travel operators for travel to California in 2025. I was advised to try Travel Planners for their competitive prices, and personal customer services. Having given them a try, I was put through to Paula Stanton whom I gave my proposed itinerary.
Shirin
Shirin couldn't have done any more for me. She was so polite, helpful and full of enthusiasm. Thank you Shirin.
