Austin is an exciting and vibrant city with lots to see and do, spend some time at the State Capitol Building, the second largest in the country, discover the full story of Texas at the Bullock Texas State History Museum take a fascinating look into the life and work of Lyndon B Johnson, America’s 36th President including a replica of the iconic Oval Office at the LBJ Presidential Library.

For a fun filled tour of Austin take the Land and Lake Austin Duck tour aboard an unsinkable amphibious Hydra Terra Vehicle. Duck tours take in many of Austin’s top downtown attractions including Historic Sixth Street, the State Capitol Building, Bob Bullock State History Museum, the Governor’s Mansion, and of course a cruise on Lake Austin – all in all a fantastic experience for all the family.

Dallas

Dealey Plaza, the site of John F Kennedy’s assassination on 22 November 1962 is less than a mile from the hotel providing a poignant window into the past events of that tragic day. See the site where the infamous shooting occurred; stand on the famous Grassy Knoll and visit the Sixth Floor Museum to discover much more about the lifetime, legacy and death of the 35th President of the United States of America. Self-guided audio tours are included in the admission fee and the exhibits, historic films, artefacts and exhibitions of the shooting and its subsequent events provide a fascinating insight into this infamous period of Dallas’s history.

For a great view out over the Dallas skyline head on up to the top of Reunion Tower, one of the city’s best known landmarks, its 561 feet tall and offers panoramic 360 degree views of the city from its revolving tower.

Pioneer Plaza is the city’s largest public park in the city paying homage to the original “Dallas Cowboys” where you’ll find amazing life sized sculptures of cowboys in the saddle horseback roping, longhorn cattle and trail drivers – the perfect place for some stunning selfie photographs!

Kids who grew up watching Jurassic Park (and adults too) will be enthralled by the permanent exhibits, state of the art video and computer animations, educational games and interactive kiosks at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.

Guided tours are a great way to explore the city without getting lost. Segway tours and hop on hop off trolley routes stop at lots of the city’s most popular attractions while organised tours to places of special interest such as the Dallas Cowboy’s Stadium and the famous Ewing Ranch at Southfork are also easy to access – visit the ranch and maybe you’ll find out who really shot JR!
