3 Nights – Oklahoma City

Discover the story of the American West at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, before exploring the cultures and histories of Oklahoma’s 39 distinctive tribal nations at the First Americans Museum. Visit the moving Oklahoma City National Memorial, explore the restaurants and entertainment of Bricktown, and experience cowboy culture in Stockyards City.
Route 66 also runs straight through Oklahoma City, providing your first taste of the legendary Mother Road.
2 Nights – Wichita Mountains & Medicine Park
Leave Oklahoma City behind and travel southwest, using Lawton as your base for exploring one of Oklahoma’s most impressive natural landscapes.
The Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge combines rugged granite peaks, lakes, hiking trails and huge open skies. Look out for roaming bison, elk and other wildlife before heading towards Mount Scott for spectacular views across the surrounding countryside.
Nearby Medicine Park is well worth exploring too, with distinctive cobblestone buildings, independent restaurants and plenty of small-town Oklahoma charm.
2 Nights – Chickasaw Country
Continue into Chickasaw Country, staying in Ardmore while exploring the natural beauty and First American heritage of south-central Oklahoma.
Head towards Sulphur and the Chickasaw National Recreation Area, where wooded trails, lakes, natural springs and waterfalls create a wonderful setting for walking and outdoor adventure. Discover Chickasaw history and culture at the Chickasaw Cultural Center, then explore the Arbuckle Mountains and nearby Turner Falls, home to Oklahoma’s tallest waterfall.
2 Nights – Broken Bow & Beavers Bend

2 Nights – Pawhuska & Osage Country
From Tulsa, journey into Osage Country, where the landscape opens into ranch country and the seemingly endless Great Plains.
Explore Pawhuska and discover the heritage of the Osage Nation before heading into the remarkable Tallgrass Prairie Preserve. Scenic roads cross one of the world’s largest remaining areas of protected tallgrass prairie, where herds of bison roam across huge Oklahoma landscapes.
It’s a quieter and wonderfully atmospheric part of the journey, offering a real taste of rural Oklahoma.
1 Night – Route 66
Finish your Oklahoma adventure with a proper journey along the Mother Road. Travel through classic Route 66 communities such as Sapulpa, Bristow, Stroud and Chandler, discovering historic roadside landmarks, neon signs and small-town Americana along the way.
Stay overnight in Cushing before continuing through Chandler and Arcadia towards Oklahoma City, completing your journey with one final stretch of America’s most legendary highway.
